IMPACT

Intentionally Multiply People After Christ's Teaching

INTENTIONALLY MULTIPLY PEOPLE AFTER CHRIST'S TEACHING

IMPACT is an adult discipleship program beginning in the Fall and ending in Spring. Students attend class one night a week, read a variety of books throughout the year and have the opportunity to serve in different ministries at LIFE Church events. The leadership and team building opportunities presented in IMPACT form lasting relationships that strengthen, challenge and facilitate growth.

ABOUT IMPACT

• 7 months (Oct-April)
• One-on-one discipleship
• Teaching from world class leaders
• Doctrine & Biblical Principals
• Discover & Develop Spiritual Gifts
• Conferences & Retreats

MATTHEW 28:18-20

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Jesus’ commissioning means that one of the privileges and responsibilities of the local church is to make disciples – not only believers.  Discipleship is the call of Jesus to every one of us to follow Him and become more like Him.

Are you wanting to grow in your relationship with God?

Do you desire to make deep friendships?

Do you want a safe place to learn to hear God’s voice more clearly?

At LIFE Church, IMPACT is our adult (18+) discipleship program designed with those three things in mind. The content and structure combined with a group of people wholeheartedly seeking God creates unimaginable growth.

IMPACT STUDENTS

As Christians, we are all called to be planted in a local church, serve, and grow. At LIFE Church there are many ways to do that. The following questions will help you determine if IMPACT could be your next step.

IS LIFE CHURCH YOUR HOME?

IMPACT students have determined that LIFE Church is their home and as such they have established habits that demonstrate they are fully committed to being a contributing member of the church family.

IMPACT students have:

  • Been consistently attending for six months or longer.
  • Been tithing regularly. This is a heart-issue, not a money issue.
  • Attended Discover Experience weeks 1 & 2.
HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF A LIFE GROUP?

We all want to grow, and there are many ways God calls us to grow. We encourage all IMPACT students to join and participate in a LIFE group for one full semester before applying to be a student in IMPACT. Although it’s not a requirement, being an active member of a LIFE Group is a perfect way to evaluate your own readiness for IMPACT.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR ACCOUNTABILITY?

Every student is supported, helped and loved in every way possible throughout this process. Having a humble willingness to allow others to speak into your life creates opportunity for God to use the people surrounding you. Students and leaders walk in close relationships and together they encourage, strengthen and challenge each other to be more like Jesus.

ARE YOUR HEART & MIND READY FOR FOCUSED GROWTH?

IMPACT is about personal growth in your daily life, trying things you’ve never tried before and inviting accountability as you establish new habits. Accommodations are available to fit each student’s learning style. If you are willing to do the work, we are able to help you find a way. This looks like:

  • Reading the Bible every day following the church-wide Bible reading plan.
  • Memorizing scripture both as a class and on your own.
  • Studying topics the Bible teaches on. Students read additional books, complete reflection homework and journal.
  • Sharing what God is doing in your life, in front of the class and in small groups
ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE SPACE IN YOUR SCHEDULE?

When we say yes to what God asks us to do, He is faithful to meet all our needs. IMPACT begins the first week of October, and ends the last week of April.

IMPACT students attend:

  • Weekly Class Thursday evenings from 6:15-9:00 PM.
  • Sunday Morning Huddle prior to the start of first service.
  • Two services each weekend, one to attend and one to serve.
  • All Church Events, Conferences and Serve Days.
  • Two Retreats during the year. Fall Retreat is typically held at LIFE Church on a Friday evening and Saturday in November. Spring Retreat is typically an overnight retreat (Friday and Saturday) in April.

We believe everyone has a next step and when we ask God, He is faithful to lead us. If you answered yes to the above questions, this might be your year to join IMPACT.  Applications close July 15th.

IMPACT LEADERS

IMPACT leadership is a role that will stretch you beyond what you learned as a student. The following questions will help you determine if IMPACT is the place God is calling you to step into leadership this year.

HAVE YOU RECENTLY PARTICIPATED AS AN IMPACT STUDENT?

Completing a year as a student is a prerequisite to leading in IMPACT. If you are unsure or if it has been awhile since you were in leadership at LIFE Church, we encourage you to apply as a student.

ARE YOU READY TO LEAD OTHERS?

Leaders are self-feeders. Paul says, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” A leader’s responsibility is to intentionally and consistently pursue personal growth and discipleship. Leadership is not about perfection rather humility as you seek the Lord. Leaders have established personal disciplines that allow them to continuously grow.

ARE YOU WILLING TO INVITE NEW PEOPLE INTO YOUR LIFE?

IMPACT leaders are paired with students and spend time building a relationship, which requires getting to know them, making space in your life for them and spending time together. For each leader this will look different, but always includes intentionally setting aside time to pray for, encourage and serve alongside one another.

IS IMPACT YOUR PRIORITY?

As a leader, you will be counted on in ways that require preparation, planning and team building outside of the schedule students follow. Leaders are able to manage their commitments independently with little accountability or intervention.

WILL OTHER COMMITMENTS COMPLIMENT OR COMPETE?

Leading in other areas often compliments and strengthens your growth as an IMPACT leader. For instance, many leaders in IMPACT also lead a LIFE Group to reach and connect with new believers or lead a serve team on the weekend. Having obligations or commitments that may limit your participation are not necessarily disqualifiers, but are discussed on a case by case basis.

ARE YOU WILLING TO MAKE SPACE IN YOUR SCHEDULE?

Although specific dates and events change from year to year, leaders follow the same schedule as students (listed above in the student section). In addition, leaders attend:

  • Leadership Training in September, three weeks including one overnight (Friday night and Saturday morning) before class begins in October.
  • Leadership Huddle half an hour before every class.

We believe everyone has leadership capacity and that calling looks different depending on our season. We encourage you to ask the Lord, talk to the leaders in your own life and if you answered yes to the above questions complete the Leader application below. Leader applications close July 15th.

COST & SUPPLIES

The cost to participate in IMPACT, as a student or leader, changes slightly from year to year. All supplies are provided as part of the cost of the program, however, to accommodate personal preference, participants provide their own Bible, journal and any reading books assigned. Full payment is due up front in October and covers a variety of things throughout the year:

  • Gifts & Merch
  • Food & Beverages
  • Retreats (Lodging, Food, etc.)
  • Supplies & Materials

APPLICATION & INTERVIEW

The application for IMPACT is designed to create conversation points and questions to guide the interview process. Please note that answers other than “yes” do not automatically disqualify you from IMPACT. The leadership team would love to have a conversation with you about any piece of the application that causes questions in your own mind. That is exactly what the interview is all about!

Interviews typically last 30 minutes and happen in mid-August. During the interview applicants meet with 2-3 members of the IMPACT leadership team, share a bit more of their own story and clarify and answer questions either of them have. The interview gives the applicant the chance to discuss any challenges they anticipate having with the expectations or schedule as well as any physical, legal or family limitations that might need special consideration. After the interview, the applicant and the team both have the opportunity to determine if this is the season for IMPACT.
